Senior researcher in Proteomics / Expertise in Quantitation and PTMs
Turku Centre for Biotechnology, University of Turku
Turku Centre for Biotechnology (CBT) is a joint department of University of
Turku (UTU)
and Åbo Akademi University (ÅA). It is located in Turku BioCity which is an
umbrella
organization supporting and coordinating life science and molecular medicine
related
research at UTU and ÅA. The Proteomics Facility, housed in the CBT, has been
under
vigorous development in recent years and is expanding it operations in
quantitative and
PTM analysis with personnel and new instrumentation. We are now looking to
recruit
motivated and skilled post-doctoral scientists to join our team in the
application and
development of quantitative and PTM technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaboration in research projects in the Turku Proteomics Facility (TPF) and
the
support of analytical methods and collaborating researchers from Biocity Turku
and UTU/ÅA.
- Work together in the interdisciplinary proteomics team at the TPF employing
the latest
mass spectrometry and proteomics technologies.
- Assist in further development of methods in Quantitative Proteomics,
post-translational
modifications, including computational infrastructures and pipelines.
REQUIREMENTS
Technical
- PhD degree in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, or a related field.
- Solid knowledge and working experience with the latest generation of MS
technologies
(Orbitrap, LTQ, Q-TOF, QQQ, TOF/TOF)
- Know-how in quantitative (SILAC, label-free or MRM) proteomics approaches as
well as
fractionation technology are essential.
- Phospho-affinity enrichment (IMAC, TiO2, β-elimination) proteomics approaches
as well
as computational approaches and pipelines are desirable.
- Prior experience in data analysis is considered important.
Personal
- Effectively interact with the research and technical staff of the Facility,
and
external research groups in a team-oriented manner.
- Advanced knowledge of English is essential, as this is the working language of
the center.
- Knowledge of Finnish or Swedish is helpful.
SALARY
The salary is in accordance with the State's salary system (Universities) for
teaching
and research personnel level 5-6 (Senior Researcher), where the work specific
salary
component is between 2636-3132 €/month. In addition, there is a share increase
based on
the personal performance, which is, at most, 46% of the base salary.
